Hi a BIG THANKS to all from Denton Soul Club who turned up at The Morg on Saturday for the charity event in aid of Christie's.Thanks for lending us Mike Leicester for the night,he did you proud with a storming set.We managed to raise £1818 for The Christie,had a great time doing it & everyone went home happy.See you all next month KTF.Johnny V.

Me and my brother paid our first visit to your club on September 2nd. I don't think it will be our last, as we were both very impressed with the whole set-up, especially the scooters. A load of great tunes were played, and we enjoyed dancing on a good floor.

I used to work as a DJ at Druffies back in the seventies, I was nick named 'Dougal', and worked with Rob Fallows, Aurther Adshead, Roy Young (who ran the club at its peak) Martyn Ellis, Richard Sterling and Ian Levine, who were regular guest DJ's.

I also played for the Rugby Team for 8 or 9 years, just curious to know who is still around and where they are perhaps.

Spent many years travelling around and now live in Delph.

I still have the collection of records from those days, I went to Crescent Road School in Dukinfield and lived on Birch Lane. My brother 'bless him' was an original Twisted Wheel and Pendelum Club member.

Hopefully someone will get in touch....

What a great night when you bang into the lads and your good ladies on a night out. I'd Just like to thank you all for everything' as most people know my other half Wanda was told she had the big C last december! after a year of pain' not just by Wanda but myself' we beat it? I'm so proud to have such great friends who rang every week ' sent wonderful flowers and spoke such kind words of love to us both in our hour of need. These lads only met us about a year ago but stood by us like we were family' its an honour to have met you lads. Rita we hear your not to well at present ' Wanda's sends all her love and says we missed seeing you xmas but now its your turn to get well. Lads from the bottom of our hearts many many thanks.

We had over 160 plus guests in, some top tunes played by all the jocks on the night kept the dance floor moving and groving .

She went in on the 20th of december and asked me not to tell anyone because she thought it would ruin people's christmas. We did post a message on Mary Fox's message board thanking the denton crew for their support and as you all know she loves the place and the people' and carnt wait to hit that floor !!

Yeah the Moon bus was fantastic. I used to get on it on Ashton Old Rd Openshaw with my mate Sue. It was one of the highlights of the night!! Her dad kept offering to take us in the car but we always said no.

Can I ask when are you going to upload the recent photos? Its been a long time since summer which is when all the ones on are from.

Sounds like I missed another great night, family can be a pain but I suppose it was Christmas and the wife hadn't seen her sister for 12 months.

Regarding the Moon, I remember well the moon Bus. What a great idea to run a bus through Stalybridge, Ashto, Denton and Hyde. It was bedlam every night. Moved to Duki Rugby Club when the Moon closed. Went to Va Va's with my mate John Nock and got a lift back on the back of a milk float in the middle of winter.

Had a great night on Boxing Night. Had our tickets but was so tired nearly didn't go but as soon as we got there and heard the music all the tiredness went. Took my son and daughter with us as they were down from Newcastle. I didn't know how they would take it but they absolutely loved it and now appreciate why me and their dad are into it. I would like to say a big thanks to all the DJ's and the ladies on the door, without you we wouldn't have a great place to go to have a dance and listen to some great tunes. My northern soul days started at the Top Twenty in Droylsden then onto the Birdcage in Ashton, the Moon in Dukinfield, The Torch in Stoke and Va Va's in Bolton. I really wish I had gone to Wigan Casino but was busy bringing my family up then!! Anyone else remember the Birdcage and the Moon?

Great night on Boxing Night - Johhny Boy was excellent (so glad Rita made the move up to dance). Just want to wish th regular gang (you know who you are ... can't type EVERYONE's name LOL) and our absent friends (Chris & Elaine, Cookie, Socks & Julie & Mickey & Wanda) a very healthy, prosperous and soulful 2010.

Phew...what a brilliant night.
Once again the place was heaving from early on.A big thank you to all of you for turning up on quite a cold night.
The night started with Dennis's spot that set the pace for the rest of the night.Mike T followed on with some great stuff and then Mike[I'm a big man] leicester put some of his top gear on the decks.A night to remember with me filling in when necessary.
I was selling the boxing night tickets last night and we only have a few left now so I expect them to go within the next week,if you want them its first come first served.
Anyway had a really good time and can't wait for the 26th when we'll do it all again!!
Remember to be early with ticket in hand as we'll want to shut the front doors as soon as possible to stop any person who hasn't a ticket form attempting entry;we want to keep the numbers to 150 to make sure everybody is comfortable

Re those complaining ... unfortunately we get 'em .. I'm sure half of em turn up expecting to hear Diana Ross & Supremes back catalogue all night... thankfully DSC isn't THAT sort of place. All the jocks on the night played blinding sets (and I can only recall 1 Miss Ross track!).

Cookie .. need to know.. you played a track towards the end for a mate at the back of the room (leg was in plaster me thinks) - sounded very much like Al Green ... Can ya tell me what it was called preety please (eyelashes >>>flutter flutter).

Another grand night enjoyed by all. Line dancers were in great form (the line is expanding - bit like my waistline!!)

Mickey you're quite right.. it's not just the music it's the great bunch of people that make the night - wouldn't be the same without them.

Dennis another great night ' It seemed everybody turned out !! maybe they heard Mike and Michelle were away. From entering the place to going home it was brill. Laura and Barry who came for the first time with Maggy said Mickey what have we been missing out on. The whole night was tops! Cookie was on top form and watching his performance last night not just on the stage' this guy will be mist. Rita if you ever leave that Dennis and his huge mansion for another man SEE A DOCTOR. people have been ringing wanda and myself all morning saying what a great night and they wern't lying. The last dj on was brill nothing was to much and if he had it 'it was on. yes.. that young laddie was VERY good - great to see younger folks who are actually interedted in the music rather than just a place for a late pint.

Last Friday was brill (but again just SOOOO HOT - Roll on the winter). - just a tadge too crowded (but its a clear indicator as to how popular our 'ickle venue has become).

Great tunes again Friday night, brought some friends with me all the way from sunny Northwich they had a great time and really enjoyed it.Thanks for the CD Mike can't fault it a true representation of what's to be heard at the club.Don't know if I can make it next time, got a date with Mary Fox 2nd October will definately give your club a mention for it's great tunesand friendly atmosphere.

what a fantastic night on friday,floor was packed,not a spare seat in the house,so we must be doing something right. I will certainly miss the denton soul crowd and djs and girls on the door, when i go to ozz.

What a Brill Night! Once again - a fantastic atmosphere, a little bit hot, messed my hair up a bit by sweating so much (nothing to do with the dancing) ha! Cookie doesn't know what he will miss? Think i will stay here, ha! really gonna miss the Denton nights when we go to Aus... Oh well can't have everything. This venue needs a bigger arena ? The place was packed to capacity with people who know how to enjoy themselfs' This week it was Mike and Petes turn to have the place rockin' The music was of the highest order and the floor rocked Yes Dennis and Cookie played a major part to because everybody in the place went home happy. A big thanks to all the wheel crew who turned up and loved every minute and [ Donna thanks you all for your get well messages. ] I really do find this place a breath of fresh air. Now for my trip down memory lane? In around 1969 nearly every woman in the country had a fur coat ? not my Wanda ! Being out of work I couldnt even afford a Fun Fur. Anyway we came out of this club in town late one night and was walking past this Mini' Wanda just stop here a sec theres a fur on the back seat of this Mini . On closer inspection I could see the door wasnt locked' Bingo I thought ' Wanda you shall go to the ball.? I opened the drivers door carefully and leaned in reaching for the coat ' You wouldnt believe what happened ? The coat was the biggest alsation youve ever seen in your life !! it nearly took my arm off, The moral of the story is' crime doesnt pay. Alan I know its your birthday next week but ' you didnt use what we got you last year That Headstone. A lot of ballads as you probably notice but since I've retired I stay in a lot more listening to words? I also watch a lot of telly and have now become an expert on Sharks and Adolph Hitler. Mike must tell you about the night I came home and Wanda poured me a bacardi and said' Ive run you a nice bath why dont you take your drink and relax in the tub and I'll slip into something nice!! On my way to the bathroom I glanced into our bedroom and noticed there were scented candles all round the room and petals on the bed. The bath Wanda had run smelt divine and after soaking for maybe four minutes [ KEEN ] I put my housecoat on and shouted down to wanda pour me another drink then made my way to the bedroom. Mike without a word of a lie the flames from the bedroom were up to the ceiling' my wardrobe was gone! Burnt as was the dressing table' we put the fire out ourselfs as we didnt want to explain to the firemen and police what started it. If we were to get married after 40 years of living together it might take the fun out of it? Billy n Lill glad you enjoyed the film just read your top seven [ Impressed ] Mike One last thing' in the early 60's I fell in love with the lead singer of the group the Carrols' [ Were in this thing Together ] I followed them everywhere' She wouldnt entertain me. That lady was later to become Faith Brown [ The Maggots ] on the Freddy Starr show.

After making sure that the most senior visitor and his beret,were settled down,it was time to enjoy what music was to follow for the next 4 hours.It went without saying the packed dance floor ,spoke for all the djs spinning the timeless classics.From The Temps,The Trammps,The Detroit Spinners,and to put kinky Kim in full flight to her favourite,Dena Barnes track it was a fantastic night.This is a venue that plays music for all soulies,both young and Micky Rooney,keep up the great work and atmosphere. They did it again ' What a brill night' When reading Motown night I must admit I had second thoughts? It was amazing ' Whatever these lads take on its done with style and class. On sitting down at our table we noticed the spinster from the door about do a session on the decks ? Early night I thought ! No such thing ' It was like everyone at that point had just received an injection !! Have you ever at 2100 hours seen' including our party' a whole club stand fill the floor and rock till around closeing. I've had the honour of playing tunes at the greatest place on earth [THE WHEEL] been asked out on a date by Desmond Dekker ? seen sites you wouldnt beleive!! This rates up there. The lads have kindly asked me to play some tunes at this fantastic venue regretfully I declined telling the truth. I would rather pay £3 and join the great crowd having a ball. Now the negatives ? being told do not kill the giant Dragonfly as this is the air conditioning !! The sexy spinster ending her spot with IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME then asking me would I dj at her wedding ? Luckily people are searched for drugs on arrival so not much chance there. Dennis your lovelly wife was the grafter who was everywhere on the night together with Cookies wife they ran the lot. Music goes without saying brill Cookie see you at HYDE. ps Who was the big fella came at the end. this venue cannot afford to carry people.. Lastly the people' without you this place does not exist you have created a family of which myself and the girl who pays me to stay with her are proud to visit.
